Neighbourhood Textile Commons

London Metropolitan University

This project focuses on community-driven methods for regenerative fibre production, urban habitat restoration, and behaviour change that redefines urban land use.

The project will develop a regenerative textile common in North London, integrating more-than-human habitats into strategies for localised textile supply chains linked to public realm design.

Working with the London Borough of Islington and the Maya Centre the project scopes types of green jobs the supply chain can offer. The key initiatives include angora rabbit grazing to improve soil biodiversity, reed-bed systems for natural dye filtration, and crafting sustainable textiles.
