Future Island-Island explores community-informed approaches to the green transition through co-design and place-based engagement. Working closely with the offshore island community of Rathlin, as both a lens and a teacher, we explore a diversity of community ideas and approaches to shaping a just green transition.
This project aims to develop a sustainable approach for Northern Ireland, extending to other rural and coastal regions of Ireland, Scotland and Nordic islands. Our research brings together citizens and subject experts to explore ways island communities can improve waste practices, apply new technologies, and develop innovative approaches to tourism and heritage in the face of environmental challenges.
This project harnesses the potential of small counties to positively transform, waste culture and behaviour, organisational change, policy, and innovation through applied design and digital worldbuilding in harmony between planet and people.
