Lucia Pietroiusti is Head of Ecologies at Serpentine, London

Lucia is a curator, strategist and programmer working at the intersection of art, ecology and systems, often beyond the gallery context. As Head of Ecologies at Serpentine, London, she founded the General Ecology project (2018–ongoing) and, in 2023, established the Ecologies department to embed environmental thinking across the organisation.
She curated the Golden Lion-winning opera-performance Sun & Sea (Lithuanian Pavilion, 58th Venice Biennale), and has led major interdisciplinary projects including The Shape of a Circle in the Mind of a Fish (with Filipa Ramos), Infinite Ecologies Marathon (2023–24), and Court for Intergenerational Climate Crimes (2025).
Her independent work includes Sites of… Practice (E-WERK Luckenwalde, 2024–ongoing), Songs for the Changing Seasons (Vienna Climate Biennale, 2024), and Persones Persons (8th Biennale Gherdeïna, 2022). Past curatorial roles include the 13th Shanghai Biennale and Being Mothers (E-WERK, 2021–22).
Lucia lectures internationally, recently teaching at HEAD – Genève, and is a 2024 Creative Fellow at NCAD Dublin. Pietroiusti serves as Chair of Forma, Trustee of Gallery Climate Coalition, and advises institutions including CAAC Sevilla and C3A Andalucía.
