James Tooze is a designer and researcher with extensive experience in research, teaching, and industry collaboration.
James is an expert in distributed manufacture and the localisation of material and labour assets, learning and supply chains that disrupt centralised modes of production and consumption.
He has led national and international research into the value of shared and open knowledge transfer between stakeholders to enable more socially just and less environmental impactful to enact economic development.
His research focuses on distributed manufacturing, sustainability, and open design, with significant projects including the EPSRC-fundedĀ Future Makespaces in Redistributed ManufacturingĀ andĀ Citizen Nature Watch.
