Aida Rafat

DyeRecycle

Dr Aida Rafat is CEO and co-founder of DyeRecycle

Aida is a chemical engineer, science communicator and eco-enthusiast with deep passion towards sustainability. She is currently the Enterprise Fellow at the Royal Academy of Engineering and the co-founder of DyeRecycle – an innovative chemical process that recycles dyes from textile waste. Aida developed the core technology during her PhD in Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London. The development sparked Aida’s passion and commitment towards changing the current business models and manufacturing practices in the textile industry.

Equally important to Aida is to drive the change on ground by sparking the consumers’ curiosity regarding the highly complex textile industry and make them question ‘who made my clothes’ and ‘what’s in my clothes’.
